Well it’s that time of year again when Santavajri, Khemajala and Jo plumb the depths of door-knocking as dharma practice…

... in the comfort of their warm office with steaming cups of tea of course – it is mid-winter after all! Then at some point they come down from that inspired place to the gritty reality:
“Holy moly!” Jo exclaims, “Two months ‘til the appeal season starts, we need more fundraisers!!! Quick guys – do something!!!”
(Envisage 5 minutes of tearing hair out, running round in circles, the odd convulsion and lots of incoherent babbling, then the appeals team sitting back round the table.)
Head honcho, Santavajri, gathers herself and takes control: “We need posters, booklets, letters to veteran fundraisers and mitra convenors, emails, phone calls to anyone who has ever said they might do an appeal in this lifetime. Let’s do it!!” The leader has spoken! Khemajala and Jo breathe a sigh of relief.
Weeks of designing, printing, phoning, writing ensue… the team work as if they are possessed – they look drawn, baggy-eyed, jittery strung out on coffee and they are beginning to smell…
All is quiet. They wait…
Will the appeals happen? Will they get the fundraisers they so desperately need? Will the money be raised, the money for those 10s of 1000s of children, women and men living on the edge on the other side of the world? Those people who are depending on us. Those people who are depending on you…
